Research

Ikbeom is interested in developing biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases and making medical imaging smarter and artifact-free. He is currently developing imaging biomarkers for early detection of Alzheimer’s disease. With his image processing and machine/deep learning skills, he also works on brain health prediction from pulse signal and motion artifact detection from MRI k-space. During his PhD, he investigated white matter alterations in contact-sport athletes and developed automated quality assurance methods for diffusion MRI using deep learning. Ikbeom loves play soccer, snowboarding, and skiing, and enjoys traveling, having been to 10 countries and 25 states in the U.S.
